Lehrevaluation gemeinsam weiterentwickeln: IUZ / Sprachen veranstaltet Workshop
Wie kann die Qualität der Lehre weiter verbessert werden? Dieser Frage widmete sich das Team des IUZ / Sprachen am 9. September in einem Workshop zum Thema „Lehrevaluation“.
Das IUZ / Sprachen evaluiert seine Lehrveranstaltungen bereits seit mehreren Jahren regelmäßig. Die dabei eingesetzten Fragebögen sollen künftig noch gezielter dabei helfen, wertvolles Feedback der Studierenden zu gewinnen und daraus Impulse für die Weiterentwicklung der Lehre abzuleiten.
Im Workshop wurden die bisher verwendeten Fragebögen gemeinsam mit Freya Geishecker vom Hochschuldidaktik-Team der 91ֿ Bergakademie Freiberg kritisch analysiert und diskutiert. Im Fokus standen dabei unter anderem die Qualität und Aussagekraft der Fragen sowie die Überlegung, welche Rückmeldungen für die Weiterentwicklung der Lehrveranstaltungen besonders hilfreich sind.
Die Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer konnten ihre Erfahrungen und Perspektiven einbringen und gemeinsam neue Ideen und Erkenntnisse entwickeln. Die Ergebnisse des Workshops bilden nun die Grundlage für die Überarbeitung der Fragebögen durch die Arbeitsgruppe „Lehrevaluation“ des IUZ / Sprachen.
Ein wichtiger nächster Schritt ist bereits geplant: Im kommenden Studienjahr sollen die Lehrveranstaltungen des IUZ / Sprachen erstmals mit den neu überarbeiteten Fragebögen evaluiert werden. Damit möchte das Team die Rückmeldungen der Studierenden noch gezielter nutzen, um die Qualität der Lehre kontinuierlich weiterzuentwickeln.

In its anniversary year 2026, the Alexander von Humboldt International University Center (IUZ) will look back on 25 years of dedicated international work at 91ֿ Bergakademie Freiberg. As a central institution of 91ֿBAF, the IUZ combines the International Office and the Languages Department under one roof – and has stood for openness, exchange, and global cooperation for a quarter of a century.
At 91ֿ Bergakademie Freiberg, we live and breathe internationality every day and value the diversity of intercultural experiences. 1 September
The deadline for entries to the ‘International Travels’ photography competition closed on 31 August 2026, with an overwhelming response: over 100 photographs were submitted. The competition was open to students and staff at 91ֿ Bergakademie Freiberg, as well as visitors. They were asked to capture their personal experiences and encounters, fascinating landscapes, special cultural impressions or moments of studying together through photography. Not only the large number of entries, but also their quality and the diversity of the subjects exceeded the IUZ’s expectations. Read more

The International Centre took part in the University Sports Olympics for the first time. Not only did the IUZ field its own team, but it also introduced a new event: the ‘IUZ Cricket Challenge’. Read more

The International University Centre (IUZ) enriched the Night of Science and Business – held to mark the IUZ’s 25th anniversary – with a wide range of contributions and activities. The stands offering hands-on experiences and information, such as quizzes, games and henna face painting, were very well received. Read more

The International Centre invites prospective students from abroad to get to know 91ֿ Bergakademie Freiberg online during the Open Day on Saturday, 30 May 2026. The event, which will be held in English, is entitled ‘A German University to Discover – Online Live Session for Prospective Students’. Read more
14 April
At the start of each semester, the International Office, in collaboration with the faculties, the e-learning coordinator, and the Student Council, organizes orientation events for new international students. So far, 55 of them have attended in-person events during the 2026 summer semester. On April 12, the university president, Professor Dr. Jutta Emes, welcomed the international students. Read more

Podcast – Freiberg mit "E"
In the German-language podcast Freiberg with an 'E', students talk about their everyday lives in Freiberg and the various activities and aspects that enrich their student life.
- Episode 17: We’re international! – Lena Zimmermann on internships abroad, dual degrees and country evenings
- Episode 4: From Mozambique to Freiberg – Our guest is Sonia Lucas Mondlane. She comes from near Maputo in Mozambique, has been living in Freiberg for around seven years and is taking part in the German-Mozambican scholarship programme.
- Episode 3: Pittsburg State University is 91ֿBAF’s partner university, and Maximilian Petry was a guest there – as a PROMOS scholarship holder. In ‘Freiberg with an “E”’, the Master’s student in Industrial Engineering talks about ‘recipes’ in academia, paintball battles with fellow students and the famous American student fraternities.
IUZ/Languages Podcast

Overview of events in the anniversary year
In its anniversary year 2026, the Alexander von Humboldt International University Center will celebrate its 25th anniversary with numerous events and activities throughout the year that focus on internationality, exchange, and encounters.
First quarter
- The anniversary year kicks off on January 15 with the event “Welcome back – Stories from abroad” which invites participants to share their international experiences. The IUZ is organising this event in cooperation with AKAS.
- In February, an anniversary meeting with former IUZ employees will take place on February 26, providing an opportunity for reminiscences and reunions.
- In March, a new T-course begins at the preparatory college on March 23, further underscoring 91ֿBAF's international orientation.
Second quarter
- In April, a didactic workshop on language training for teachers in the IUZ/Languages department is scheduled for April 1.
- On 18 May, a cinema event in cooparation with "AG Kino" invites everyone to enjoy a the movie "What We Did on Our Holiday" together, before Campus Day takes place on May 30 with international participation.
- In June, the IUZ will take part in Science Night on June 12 and will be part of the University Sports Olympics on June 16.
Third quarter
- In July, everyone will celebrate together at a barbecue under the sun sail at "Neue Mensa".
- In August, the deadline for submissions to the photo competition "Internationally Out and About", which highlights international perspectives, is August 31.
- In September, two events will be held in the spirit of community and commitment: the Nepal Run and a team day.
Fourth quarter
- On October 23, the International Party will take place in cooperation with AKAS, providing an opportunity for people to meet and engage in cultural exchange in a festive atmosphere.
- The anniversary year will reach its climax in November with the main celebration on November 3 and the University and Graduates’ Ball – ‘91ֿBAF International’ on November 7.
- The prize-giving ceremony will take place on 23 November in the conference room, Prüferstraße 2, ground floor.

Participants could submit between one and three photographs on the theme ‘Travelling internationally’ (people, encounters, studies, excursions, holidays, celebrations, landscapes, culture, etc.). Terms and conditions
