In the Master's program Data Literacy and Business Analytics at 91²Ö¿â Bergakademie Freiberg, you will acquire in-depth knowledge in data-driven decision support – from collecting and processing large volumes of data to analyzing, interpreting, and implementing data-based solutions in business and public administration.
Program Content
The program offers an interdisciplinary combination of statistics, computer science, economics, and ethics. Key focus areas include:
- Fundamentals and methods of data analysis and statistics
- Machine learning and artificial intelligence in the context of business applications
- Data visualization, storytelling, and decision support
- Data literacy for informed judgment in dealing with digital information
- Legal, social, and ethical issues in data handling
A strong emphasis is placed on practical application: In project modules and case studies, students work on real-world challenges from business and society – in close collaboration with partners from industry, research, and the public sector.
Program Structure
The program comprises four semesters (120 ECTS) and is structured as follows:
- Core modules providing methodological and theoretical foundations
- Elective modules for individual specialization (e.g., Predictive Analytics, Responsible AI, Visual Analytics)
- Practice-oriented project work and case study
- Master's thesis with scientific and real-world relevance
Please note: The courses on this degree program are held in German. However, the specialised literature is primarily written in English. English language skills are therefore also required for this degree program.
Graduates are able to analyse and critically reflect on data-driven issues from an interdisciplinary perspective and translate them into sustainable decision-making processes. Typical fields of application are:
